Does Wave come with software?

Wave ships with software that enables you to customize presets. That same software allows you to configure how Wave works with Wavefront.

Does Wave generate sound?

Wave is an expressive MIDI controller that you connect to the music software or app of your choice. The software that Wave connects with generates the audio.

What kind of software does Wave support?

Wave is Bluetooth MIDI compatible and as such works just like any MIDI device. What that means is that Wave works with most DAWs and music apps right out of the box. We have tried Wave with software such as Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Pro Tools, Reaper, Bitwig, Studio One, FL Studio, Garage Band and G-Stomper Studio/Rhythm as well as VDJ software such as VDMX5.

Can I use multiple Waves at the same time?

Yes you can; it's actually a lot of fun! You can for example do two-handed drum beats. The number of Waves you can simultaneously connect depends on which device you connect it to. We have tried connecting up to five Waves on Mac OS X without any noticeable drawbacks.

Can I wear a Wave on each finger?

Wave is primarily designed to be worn on the index finger of each hand, but there is nothing stopping you from wearing it however you please.

What is the latency like?

The latency you experience depends primarily on the device you connect with Wave. During the development phase we worked with countless artists and none of them commented on latency. If you would like to hear what kind of latency you should be expect, please have a look at any of our videos which are all recorded live.

What kind of software do I need?

That entirely depends on what you would like to do with Wave. For example if you would like to connect Wave to your current setup in Mac OS X you won't have to install anything at all; just pair Wave with your computer and use it like any other MIDI keyboard! The same goes with Android or iOS, where we like to use apps such as Garage Band and G-Stomper Rhythm to play with.

Can I use Wave for something other than music?

Wave can talk with all software that speaks MIDI, for example VDMX5, video software

What kind of MIDI messages does Wave send out?

Continuous signals, like hand movements and vibrato, are sent out as control change messages while discrete ones are sent out as velocity-sensitive note on/offs. 14-bit MIDI is optional.

How do I charge Wave?

Wave charges via a micro USB port.

How long does the battery last?

We estimate a fully charged device to last for longer than eight hours.

Can I use Wave if my computer doesn't have Bluetooth LE?

Yes, you can buy a Bluetooth LE dongle online to get your computer up to date with Wave.

How can I tell if my device has Bluetooth LE?

iPhones running iOS 8 or more recent and Android devices running version 6 and more recent generally all support Bluetooth LE.

What is Wavefront

Wavefront is a Eurorack module that connects with Wave so you can integrate expressive gestures directly into your modular setup. Wavefront has six outputs, four of which are high-quality CV outputs and two are discrete gates/triggers.

How many Waves can I pair to each Wavefront?

You can connect one Wave per Wavefront at a given time. Pairing is straight forward: Bring Wave close to the Wavefront that you would like to connect with and press the button.

Can I use additional devices with Wavefront?

Wavefront has an open API so you can write your own applications to interface with it.
